AIDAblu is scheduled to depart tomorrow from Civitavecchia (Rome) for AIDA Cruises' first sailing after the COVID-19 lockdown.

All-Italy itinerary

The weeklong, all-Italy itinerary includes Naples, Palermo, Catania and La Spezia. Voyages are to operate weekly until Nov. 28.

AIDAblu becomes the fourth ship of the Costa Group to resume operations, after Costa Deliziosa, Costa Diadema and Costa Smeralda, which restarted in September and October.

'We are very proud that the restart takes place from Italy, because all of our ships fly the Italian flag and our group is headquartered in Italy,' Costa Group & Carnival Asia CEO Michael Thamm said.

Noting that Costa Group is currently operating only in Italy and the Mediterranean, Thamm expressed his appreciation to the Italian authorities.

Symbolizes 'solid relationship between Italy and Germany'

'Thanks to AIDAblu’s cruise program, we are contributing to the restart of international tourism in Italy, bringing our German guests to a destination they love in a safe and responsible way,' he said. 'We see this ship as a symbol of the long-lasting, solid relationship between Italy and Germany.'
