American Melody embarks on inaugural 22-day Mississippi cruise

American Cruise Lines' new American Melody is scheduled to sail today on a 22-day Mississipi River voyage.

Passengers will celebrate Labor Day weekend exploring the lower Mississippi after they embark at Natchez, Mississippi. The cruise had been scheduled to operate from New Orleans but was changed due to Hurricane Ida. The voyage will end at St. Paul, Minnesota.

Throughout American Melody’s inaugural season, passengers will be treated to complimentary pre-cruise nights on board, festive cocktail parties, Mississippi-inspired gourmet dinners and  inaugural season gifts.

Eight-day upper and lower Mississippi cruises

After this first trip and to the end of December, American Melody will sail several eight-day upper Mississippi cruises between St. Louis and St. Paul and several eight-day lower Mississippi cruises including New Orleans round-trips along with holiday cruises for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.

The modern-style American Melody accommodates 175 passengers in all private-balcony staterooms including suites and single-occupancy rooms. Features include a multi-level sky-lit atrium, spacious indoor and outdoor lounges, a grand dining room, a casual outdoor café, a large fitness center and a Skywalk cantilevered over the ship’s top deck.

Follows recently introduced American Jazz

American Melody is the line’s second new modern riverboat this year, following American Jazz, and the fourth boat in American’s growing Mississippi fleet. Modern riverboats American Symphony and American Serenade are planned in 2022
