Ocean Voyager (ex Victory I) is operating the new Yucatán cruises
American Queen Voyages' first 'Mexico and the Yucatán Peninsula' cruise-tour embarked today, and the company unveiled a winter sale to varied destinations.

Passengers boarded Ocean Voyager (ex Victory I) Wednesday at Cozumel after arriving the day before for their first land adventure. They'll be visiting destinations including Campeche, Progreso (for Mérida) and Valladolid. Highlights of this inaugural voyage include a visit to El Gran Museo del Mundo Maya de Mérida and two nights at the Mayaland Hotel adjacent to Chichén Itzá with the chance to see the sunrise over the Temple of Kukulkan.

Ocean Voyager will operate four of these cruise-tours before returning to the US Southeast for round-trip Amelia Island (Fernandina Beach) sailings.

Expanding beyond the rivers

'Expanding our experiences beyond US river cruises to immersive international small-ship itineraries has been a company goal for some time and it is exciting to now offer our guests these new content-rich cultural adventures,' said Shawn Bierdz, chief operating officer, American Queen Voyages. 'Later this year we will embark on Southeast US voyages, itineraries touching all five Great Lakes, an inaugural expedition season in Alaska with Ocean Victory and much more.'

Winter Savings Event

A new 'Winter Savings Event' offers up to $5,400 bonus savings per stateroom on bookings made by Feb. 28 on select voyages.

Eligible itineraries include the nine-day ' Heartland Splendors on the Ohio River' (Cincinnati-Memphis). Among the highlights are river gem Paducah, Kentucky, a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art, and Brandenburg, Kentucky, with the option to visit the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park, tour the Lincoln Museum and explore the legacy of Gen. George Patton at Fort Knox

'Splendor of the Great Lakes' (Chicago-Toronto) is an 11-day exploration of all five Great Lakes with an exclusive embarkation or debarkation at downtown Chicago’s Navy Pier. A highlight is Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark where horses and bicycles are the primary mode of transport and a stop at the famous Grand Hotel is a must.
