Here's a quick read of some of today’s coronavirus-recovery cruise news. This is being updated throughout the day.

Sky Princess sails from Southampton

Princess Cruises’ Sky Princess joined sister ship Regal Princess in operating UK sailings.

The MedallionClass ship departed from the Port of Southampton Monday — the first occasion it has sailed with passengers from the UK.

‘It is fantastic to be welcoming guests back on board another Princess ship, this time the beautiful Sky Princess, our second ship to join us here in the UK,’ said Tony Roberts, VP Princess Cruises UK and Europe.

‘Yesterday was a significant day for Sky Princess as it also marked her first sailing from Southampton — [which will be] her homeport for three consecutive years — with guests on board.’

Until October 5, the vessel will take UK passengers on short scenic voyages visiting Liverpool, Greenock, Belfast and Portland.

It is the third ship in the Princess fleet to return to service. The first, Majestic Princess, began sailing from Seattle in July.
