Sylvia Earle’s inaugural season features several Antarctica voyages
Aurora Expeditions' new ship, Sylvia Earle, makes her maiden voyage from Stanley in the Falkland Islands to the sub-Antarctic on November 5.

Passengers will be flown from Santiago to Stanley where the ship’s namesake, Dr Sylvia Earle, will christen her before a 16-day ‘Sub-Antarctic Safari’ to Ushuaia.

She will continue her inaugural season with several voyages to Antarctica, followed by Costa Rica, the Canadian Arctic, Norway, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland and Scotland.

Ulstein X-BOW

Like her sister ship, Greg Mortimer, Sylvia Earle features the Ulstein X-BOW, and a two-level glass atrium.

All cabins have ocean views, most with balconies, and between 130 to 140 expeditioners will be carried on each voyage.

The ship has a modern lecture lounge, multiple observation areas, Zodiac launching platforms, two restaurants, a gym, swimming pool, Jacuzzis and a mudroom.

She is certified 100% carbon neutral with a dedicated fully equipped Citizen Science Centre.

‘Incredible opportunity’

‘Travelling with Aurora Expeditions on Sylvia Earle will be an incredible opportunity for people to learn about the planet’s extraordinary marine habitats and the importance of protecting them,’ Earle said.

Floating ambassador

‘This highly anticipated vessel is intended to be a floating ambassador for the conservation of the planet, with a large focus on marine education and conservation in line with Dr Earle’s own longstanding effort,’ Hayley Peacock-Gower, Aurora’s CMO, said.

The company is offering up to 20% off inaugural season fares for bookings made by June 30.
