Australia’s True North to become a two-ship adventure company

Ratu Moto, the original True North, is soon to undergo a refit in Fremantle and be rebranded True North II
True North Adventure Cruises’ original vessel, True North, which has been operating charters in Indonesia under the name Ratu Motu, will be renamed True North II after a refit in Fremantle later this year.

The 22-passenger ship, launched in 1999, operated Kimberley cruises under True North’s former branding, North Star Cruises, until 2005, when the company took delivery of a new 36-passenger ship.

First-class condition

True North Adventure Cruises’ founding director Craig Howson recently inspected the vessel in Indonesia, finding it in ‘first-class condition.’

‘The introduction of a second boat will obviously allow our reservations team to offer much-improved availability, however, we will also be able to offer pricing that generally represents a 25% saving when compared to True North,’ Howson said.

Both True North and True North II are purpose-built to sail deep into the heart of wilderness areas that are inaccessible to larger vessels and each has its own helicopter on board.

True North II will return to cruising in Australia in March 2023.
