Bookings open for Carnival Luminosa's Australia and Alaska cruises

The former Costa ship is set to debut in its new Carnival livery at Brisbane Nov. 6, before repositioning to Seattle in May for the 2023 Alaska season.

'To truly make Luminosa feel part of the Carnival Cruise Line family, we are adding our beautiful new livery to her hull, of course, and are keeping her throwback funnel design that once adorned some of our most iconic earlier vessels,' Carnival President Christine Duffy said, referring to the funnels of the original Mardi Gras, Carnival and Festivale.

Fun Ship features to be added

'We’ll be adding some Carnival features in the upcoming dry dock and adapting some existing features to align with Carnival’s casual style,' Duffy continued, 'but ultimately, our crew will make everyone feel right at home as soon as they join the ship.'

Carnival Luminosa's Altair Nightclub

Carnival Luminosa offerings will include Playlist Productions, Punchliner Comedy Club, Limelight Lounge, Piano Bar 88, Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Chef’s Table, Bonsai Sushi Express, Serenity adults-only retreat and Cloud 9 Spa, among others. The ship will also provide a sea day brunch.

Varied Brisbane sailings

Voyages from Brisbane, operating from Nov. 6 to April 13, include three- and four-day getaways to Australian ports, six- and seven-day Great Barrier Reef and South Pacific sailings and eight- to 11-day voyages to destinations like Noumea and Lifou Isle in New Caledonia, Port Vila and Mystery Island in Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea, Fiji and New Zealand.

A 'Carnival Journeys' trans-Pacific voyage, 22 days, will reposition Carnival Luminosa to Seattle, calling at New Caledonia, Fiji, Tahiti, Moorea and Honolulu, Hawaii.

From Seattle

Carnival Luminosa's four-month Alaska schedule includes 17 seven-day sailings and six- and eight-day cruises to ports such as Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway and Icy Strait Point with scenic cruising of Tracy Arm Fjord.

Carnival's first calls at Japan, Philippines, Indonesia

The ship will then sail another trans-Pacific voyage back to Brisbane, making Carnival's first calls at Kushiro, Aomori, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, as well as Puerto Princesa, Philippines and Bitung, Indonesia. Three Alaska ports are also part of this 30-day 'Carnival Journeys' voyage.
