A Carnival spokeswoman told Seatrade Cruise News the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Several hundred passengers were transported from St. Thomas Wednesday and charter flights were continuing throughout Thursday to a variety of destinations in the US, based on where cruisers live. Charter flights are being used due to the limited availability of commercial flights.

All passengers are being accommodated on board until their flights, and hotel services are fully functional including air conditioning, elevators, toilets and galleys.

Carnival said the ship will depart St. Thomas for San Juan once the US Coast Guard has completed their activities on board.

The fire was extinguished by Carnival Liberty's automated suppression systems. There were no injuries.
