CLIA hires chief of research and business analytics

Cruise Lines International Association appointed a seasoned executive to lead research. Christian Savelli joins as vp research and business analytics, based in CLIA's global headquarters in Washington, DC.

Savelli comes from Meeting Professionals International, where he served as senior director of business intelligence and research. He has decades of experience developing business intelligence, conducting analysis and research, and synthesizing input from multiple sources to deliver executive recommendations.

Prior to MPI, Savelli was the director of business intelligence at Maxvantage and Maritz Travel. Additionally, he has 10 years of experience in the hotel industry and holds an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School, UNC-Chapel Hill.

'Christian has an ideal blend of market research and business analysis expertise that will help CLIA elevate its capabilities as the center of intelligence for the cruise industry,' said Cindy D'Aoust, evp member and operations.

Savelli will be responsible for leading CLIA’s research department and overseeing business case development. He also will facilitate annual research planning and prioritization process, manage the CLIA Research Committee, advise stakeholders on research thinking and priorities, and assist the association with business modeling.
