CLIA, MedCruise express deep regret over Tunis attack
Cruise Lines International Association, CLIA Europe and the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports have expressed their shock and sadness over the terrorist attack in Tunis.

'All of us grieve with the families and friends of the victims of yesterday’s tragic attack in Tunisia,' Cruise Lines International Association said in a Facebook post.
'Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the attack in Tunisia,' CLIA Europe said in a statement, while MedCruise expressed 'deep regret' over the attack at the Bardo Museum in the heart of the Tunisian capital.
'Lives were lost and this is sad in all respects,' MedCruise said in a statement to Seatrade Insider, adding that the shock of this 'devastating event is touching our hearts further' since a number of tourists caught in the gunfire were cruise passengers.
'We feel for the Tunisian members of our family, and all those that were suddenly touched by a clear assault on tourism,' MedCruise continued.
'Foremost, the MedCruise family wishes to express its most sincere condolences to all those who are affected by this tragic event and are suffering as a result, in particular to the families and friends of those who lost their lives as well as those injured.'
In its Facebook post, CLIA noted how member lines for many years have coordinated closely with national and international security and law enforcement authorities around the globe to help ensure passenger safety. The lines also maintain 'a rigorous set of policies and procedures designed to safeguard passengers and to provide an immediate and effective response to any incident,' CLIA said.
The association indicated it will work with member lines and the authorities to assess measures to help provide additional passenger safety and security.
CLIA also thanked the Tunisian authorities for their assistance in providing aid and medical care to the injured and their families, and commended Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises for their 'efforts to render comfort and aid to their passengers.'
