Meanwhile, Cindy D'Aoust, evp membership and operations—who was appointed Dec. 1—will manage CLIA's US operations and the teams in Washington, DC, and Fort Lauderdale. And global CLIA chairman Adam Goldstein, president and coo of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., will serve as the organization's official spokesperson.

'We are dedicated to identifying a leader who will continue to drive the vision of the organization,' Goldstein said. 'During this search and transition process, we are well-positioned to continue to support our membership and the many activities we have under way around the world with the leadership of our talented executive team.'

In an unusual step for a CLIA chairman—though perhaps not in his role as spokesperson—Goldstein is going to participate in CLIA's annual media briefing, set for Jan. 27 in New York.

In addition to D’Aoust, the senior team in the new Washington office—where CLIA relocated this month from its long-time Arlington, Virginia, office—includes Thomas Fischetti, chief financial officer; Bud Darr, svp technical and regulatory affairs; Mike McGarry, svp public affairs; and Lorri Christou, svp strategic marketing and communications. Christou also joined the team Dec. 1.

Duffy will take up her new role as Carnival Cruise Line president on Feb. 1.

Global CLIA association leaders include Raphael von Heereman, secretary general of CLIA Europe, effective Feb. 15; Marco Ferraz, president of CLIA ABREMAR-Brazil; Greg Wirtz, president of CLIA North West & Canada; and Brett Jardine, general manager of CLIA Australasia. CLIA Southeast Asia and CLIA North Asia are managed by MCI, an outside association management firm, under the direction of CLIA North Asia chair Zinan Liu, managing director, China and Asia, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.; and CLIA Southeast Asia chair Ann Sherry, ceo, Carnival Australia.
