CLIA postpones NYC media briefing as 'historic' storm bears down

On Tuesday New York City could face near-hurricane force winds, coastal flooding perhaps as much as three feet of snow, according to The New York Times, and Mayor Bill de Blasio warned it would likely be one of the largest blizzards in Big Apple history.

New York was suspending subway, bus and rail service as of late Monday, tunnels and roads were being closed and schools will be out on Tuesday.

Thousands of flights were canceled already on Monday, making it tough for cruise line executives from South Florida and elsewhere to get to the CLIA briefing.

Several said the association plans to reschedule for Feb. 9. 

Executives from Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas Cruises were no doubt breathing a sigh of relief at having carried out their new ship reveals in Manhattan last week and the week before.
