The Genting Group assigned the contract for hotel services, crewing and recruiting as well as the technical management of the hotel ship to Hamburg-based COLUMBIA Cruise Services (CCS).

116 hotel,deck and engine crew

As the dedicated manager and with a team of 116 hotel, deck and engine crew members, CCS will be in charge for product delivery of the food and beverage services, housekeeping, purchasing, logistics and administrative services, starting from this month.

Olaf Groeger, Managing Director of CCS, is looking forward to the new cooperation with Genting Group and MV Werften: ‘For CCS, the hotel ship is an exciting new challenge. As a Germany-based company, we hope to be able to make a small contribution to the overall success of the "Global-class" project.’

The mid-section of the first of two 342mtr long Global-class ships, Global Dream, arrived at Wismar under tow from Warnemünde dock last month. It is now undergoing final assembly in the dock hall in Wismar. After float-out next year, the newbuild will be outfitted at the recently renovated Quay 4.

SuperStar Libra will be used as a hotel for the project’s external contractors during this next construction phase through to delivery in 2021.

From next year, a  lunch menu will be offered for payment to non-resident shipyard workers and contractors as an alternative dining option to the shipyard canteen.
