Outgoing chair, Daren Taylor, said, 'CruiseBritain is a thriving organisation that works to raise the profile of Britain as a cruise destination.  I've enjoyed my time at the helm and wish Angie every success; her appointment has the unanimous support of CruiseBritain's Steering Group.  Angie has been enormously successful in her work for Liverpool itself and is also a tireless and positive ambassador for Britain. Her experience in the cruise industry, plus the wider travel business, will be of great value to CruiseBritain and I feel absolutely confident that Angie's passion for the industry will enable our organisation to continue to flourish.'

Taylor added, 'The cruise industry has great potential for Britain's ports, destinations and services; each cruise ship call can bring significant revenue into the port and surrounding area and we are working with both VisitBritain and VisitEngland to increase Britain's share of the Northern European day call market.'

He added, 'CruiseBritain is also now working closely with the European Sea Ports Association newly formed Cruise & Ferry Ports Network. This is a  great opportunity to work towards better Europe-wide co-operation. The Network aims to achieve a clear voice with European institutions, develop a useful Code of Practice and engage in constructive dialogue with other industry stakeholders such as the cruise lines.'

Redhead commented, 'I am delighted to take on the position of chair of Cruise Britain at a time when the UK cruise offer is stronger than ever and our potential is at its greatest. UK ports have always worked collaboratively together to enhance our offer to both the passenger and the cruise line and I am really looking forward to the challenge and opportunity during my time as chair.'
