Crystal is back with first Bahamas cruise in season stretching through November

Festivities were attended by Crystal executives, Bahamian government officials including Tourism Minister Dionisio D’Aguilar and Tourism Director General Joy Jibrilu. At the pier a Junkanoo parade entertained embarking passengers in a lively Bahamian tradition of music, dancing and colorful costumes.

Crystal Serenity received a water cannon salute as it left the harbor to the sounds of Crystal Cruises’ signature sail-away song 'What A Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong.

Historic and joyful moment

'We are delighted to celebrate this historic day in Nassau as Crystal Serenity resumes sailing and welcomes our guests, who we consider our Crystal family, back on board,' said Carmen Roig, SVP marketing and sales.

'This is a historic moment for Crystal, our employees and especially for our officers and crew and we are happy to be back where we belong, sailing the oceans of the world and creating experiences that become cherished lifelong memories,' Roig contnued. She thanked Bahamian officials, travel partners and 'our loyal Crystal guests for standing with us and cheering us on to this joyful moment.'

Reservations opened to record demand in March, representing the biggest single day of bookings in the company’s history within the first 24 hours of its release.

Refueling the local economy

'The thrilling itineraries that await travelers will help refuel our local economy while also providing an unforgettable experience for guests,' D’Aguilar said.

Added Jibrilu.'Never have travelers had the opportunity to explore so much of the Bahamas on one vessel, from the lively downtown of Nassau to the secluded escapes found across the beautiful Out Islands.'

Crystal Serenity is scheduled to homeport in Nassau through Nov. 13, departing round-trip every Saturday (passengers may also sail round-trip Bimini) with calls in Great Exuma, San Salvador and Long Island. Crystal has partnered with more than 30 local  businesses to offer small-group experiences that are both local and authentic, with the additional goal of helping reinvigorate tourism.

Passengers will get an exuberant and distinctly Bahamian sendoff by a 15-member Junkanoo band on every Nassau departure.

Vaccination and testing mandates

Because of Crystal's COVID-19 vaccination requirement, travelers will be able to explore ashore independently. Crew are also fully vaccinated and, as an extra step, passengers undergo mandatory testing at embarkation.
