Diamond Princess's round-trip Yokohama sailings departing before Oct. 16 and a 24-day repositioning voyage from Singapore to Los Angeles have been canceled.

The ship's next scheduled cruise is Dec. 1, a company spokeswoman confirmed, from Los Angeles to South America.

If that goes ahead, it would begin a maiden season for Diamond Princess in South America/Antarctica.
