Princess Cruises President John Padgett, along with Discovery Princess officers led by Capt. Gennaro Arma, welcomed the first passengers, Michael and Sally Smith, with a special ceremony. The Smiths, from Sacramento, have frequently sailed with the line for the last 10 years.
Princess a Los Angeles presence since 1965
The first Princess cruise in 1965 sailed from Los Angeles.

New Spotlght Bar show
Discovery Princess offers 25 bars and restaurants, Sky Suites with their 270-degree views from a 1,000-square-foot balcony, Broadway-style production shows including the new Spotlight Bar, Take Five jazz club and The Sanctuary for relaxation.
Naming festivities April 29
Delivered by Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard in late January, Discovery Princess caps the six-strong Royal class and is scheduled to be named at the Port of Los Angeles on April 29. Until then, the ship will sail Mexican Riviera and California coast voyages before heading to Seattle for a season of weekly Alaska cruises as the newest big ship in the region.
