Emerald Cruises' first yacht, Emerald Azzurra, embarked on its maiden voyage in the Red Sea over the weekend.

The 100-passenger vessel sailed from Aqaba, Jordan, on an eight-day voyage to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, as well as Eilat in Israel, before returning to Aqaba for an included guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage-listed Petra.

Infinity pool, spa, marina platform

Emerald Azzurra offers 88% balcony accommodations, a large infinity pool, spa with infrared sauna, gym and a marina platform with SEABOBs, paddleboards and snorkeling equipment. The latest electronic bikes from Gocycle are also available on board for use in ports.

'The level of luxury and service afforded to each guest, coupled with the diverse itineraries offered on the Adriatic Coast, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea for its inaugural season, is truly groundbreaking,' said Maggie Carbonell, VP marketing for Scenic Group USA.

Venice christening planned

Emerald Azzurra is scheduled for a christening in Venice before the ship repositions to the Mediterranean for the summer season.

Sister yacht Emerald Sakara is due to enter service in February 2023, with new itineraries for the brand that include the Seychelles.
