The 2003-built Costa Mediterranea will get new livery and upgrades before entering service as Mediterranea
The former Costa Mediterranea, part of the CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping joint venture, is to begin sailing late this year on international cruises from Tianjin.

The 2003-built ship will be operated as Mediterranea by Adora Cruises following a refurbishment bringing new livery, upgrades and adaptations for Chinese passengers.

It is scheduled to enter service in the fourth quarter.

The 86,000gt Mediterranea can accommodate up to 2,680 passengers in 1,057 staterooms and suites.

In January 2020, Costa Atlantica had transferred to the joint venture between China State Shipbuilding Corp. and Carnival Corp. & plc, with Costa Mediterranea following. It was idle during the pandemic.

With newbuild Adora Magic City from Shanghai

Meanwhile, construction of the joint venture's first newbuild advanced at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and the 135,500gt Adora Magic City is also due to begin sailing in late 2023, from Shanghai.
