Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to visit STX France in St Nazaire today for the handover ceremony of MSC Meraviglia, Elysée Palace announced.

The ceremony is planned for this afternoon.

Since taking office a couple of weeks ago, Macron has had a busy schedule meeting with world leaders including Donald Trump, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin.

MSC Cruises' 167,600gt newbuild is to sail from St Nazaire Thursday, headed for its Le Havre naming on Saturday evening in the presence of new French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe. He is the former mayor of the city, which celebrates its 500th anniversary this year.
