This milestone sailing follows an extensive refurbishment programme that has seen public areas revamped, cabins updated, new bathrooms installed and new carpets laid throughout.

The project introduced popular Fred. Olsen venues the Morning Light Pub, The Bookmark Café, and The Oriental Tea Room, alongside many new additions to Fred. Olsen, including an all-weather pool, two-tiered theatre and The Auditorium.

New specialty dining areas

New specialty dining venues include Vasco for a modern take on Indian food and Colours & Tastes offers modern Asian Fusion dishes.

Peter Deer, managing director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: ‘The team on board has worked incredibly hard to add our own Fred. Olsen touches to the ship, with every element designed with the elegance and attention to detail that we are so well known for.’

Bolette (ex-Amsterdam), named after the great-great-grandmother of company Chairman Fred. Olsen Jr, is the second in the fleet to set sail, following on from sister ship Borealis (ex Rotterdam) in early July. Both ships were acquired from Holland America Line in the summer of 2020.

Sonia Limbrick, head of cruise at the Port of Dover, said: ‘We are delighted that Fred. Olsen has chosen us as the homeport for its new flagship vessel.’
