The extended 12-hour call will allow time for passengers on excursions to Kuala Lumpur to explore Melaka, the line said.
Tender to ICQS Complex
Genting Dream will anchor close to Melaka city, affording view of the beaches and landscape. Passengers will take a short tender up the Melaka River to the modern Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS Complex). From there, it is a 15-minute walk to the heart of Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the red colonial buildings of Dutch Square and Jonker Street, famous for its shopping, dining and entertainment.
It's also possible to take the Melaka riverboats next to the ICQS Complex to see the historic port city with buildings influenced by the Portuguese, Dutch and English, murals, parks and colorful shops on both sides of the riverbank.
200,000 passengers
With a total of 52 calls a year, Genting Dream is expected to carry up to 200,000 passengers to Melaka annually, according to Michael Goh, president of Resorts World Cruises.
This will contribute to increased tourism numbers during 'Visit Melaka 2024,' boosting Melaka's economic growth, said Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, chief minister of Melaka. Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is the ‘Visit Melaka Year 2024’ ambassador
Three-night cruise
Passengers have the option to embark on Mondays every fortnight from Melaka via the ICQS Complex for a three-night cruise to Singapore and Penang ending at Port Klang.
