HAL's 2024 Alaska features some longer cruises, new Arctic odyssey

Holland America Line's 2024 Alaska program debuts a 28-day Arctic Circle itinerary plus 14-day voyages and 117 weeklong cruises.

HAL also offers the most Glacier Bay National Park visits and is the only cruise line to combine the Yukon and Denali on overland cruise-tours.

The monthlong Arctic Circle itinerary is 'the most immersive we've ever offered in this region,' said HAL's Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer.

Six ships

From April through September 2024, the line's Alaska fleet includes Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zaandam. The line’s 2024 cruises are now open for booking, while cruise-tours are scheduled to be available in February.

'Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice'

This 28-day cruise aboard Westerdam departs June 9 in time for the summer solstice. It sails round-trip from Seattle to the Bering Sea calling at Alaska's Anchorage, Dutch Harbor, Haines, Homer, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Nome, Seward, Sitka, Valdez and Wrangell, along with Canada's Prince Rupert. Scenic cruising includes Glacier Bay, the Inside Passage, Tracy Arm, College Fjord, Little Diomede Island, Prince William Sound and Hubbard Glacier.

14-day Vancouver round-trips

The 14-day 'Great Alaskan Explorer' offers an in-depth adventure with eight Alaska ports. Departures are round-trip Vancouver, BC.

Nieuw Amsterdam's May 5 cruise calls Anchorage, Homer, Juneau, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Skagway, Valdez and Wrangell, with scenic sailing of Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier. Noordam's Sept. 15 version has the same ports plus Prince Rupert and Sitka, with Glacier Bay scenic cruising.

Weeklong options

'Northbound Glacier Discovery' and 'Southbound Glacier Discovery' cruises between Whittier and Vancouver operate aboard Nieuw Amsterdam and Noordam with calls at Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway.

'Alaska Inside Passage' cruises sail round-trip Vancouver on Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam and Zaandam. Ports include Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway.

'Alaskan Explorer' cruises round-trip from Seattle aboard Eurodam and Westerdam call at Victoria, BC (evening stay) and Ketchikan, Juneau and Sitka. Eurodam also includes Icy Strait Point and Glacier Bay; Westerdam explores Dawes Glacier.
