The ship responded to a call for aid to assist the 79-foot sightseeing vessel Baranof Wind, which was experiencing mechanical troubles near Johns Hopkins Glacier.

Noordam lowered a tender, which collected 40 tourists and one Glacier Bay National Park ranger and carried them to the ship.

Following lunch on board Noordam, the sightseers were taken to Bartlett Cove, where the Baranof Wind excursion originated. The ship then sailed for its next port of call, Ketchikan, where it arrived the following day.

Noordam was in the middle of a week-long Alaska cruise round-trip from Vancouver, BC, on June 6.
