Holland America Line’s VP Sales and Marketing Australasia Ryan Taibel hosted lunch for industry partners and media aboard Westerdam when she arrived in Sydney Tuesday at the start of her maiden 2022-23 Australia/New Zealand cruise season.

Tailbel replaced Tony Archbold earlier this year.

Before lunch, guests saw a special performance of BB King’s Blues Club, which Taibel said is a highlight of every HAL voyage.

Westerdam will sail between Australia and New Zealand until January 3 when she makes a 16-day voyage to Singapore.

Two-ship season

As previously reported, HAL will have two ships cruising in Australasia when Noordam arrives on November 12.

She will circumnavigate Australia and then operate trans-Tasman voyages before departing April 8, 2023, to reposition to Vancouver, BC.

Better than a guidebook

‘Our sailings in Australia and New Zealand will ensure local cruisers will have a close-to-home travel experience which goes way beyond what you could find in any guidebook,’ Taibel said.

‘Our programming brings the destination to life via immersive shore excursions, stimulating port talks and Port to Table cooking classes which make the most of the very best in local produce.

‘There is no better way to explore our own backyard than with Holland America Line.’
