AIDA operates a fleet of 13 ships which sail to a range of destinations from hubs in Germany, Mallorca and Corfu, and further afield in locations including Mauritius, the Dominican Republic, Dubai and Vietnam.

The initial rollout will see iCoupon’s seamless solution implemented across AIDA’s Germany-based ships.

Working with more than 130 airlines across 230 plus airports and 2,300-plus retail units, iCoupon’s technology enables airlines, airports and ground handlers to remotely issue digital vouchers directly to mobile or printed passenger boarding passes for use in iCoupon-integrated retailers, eliminating the need for physical vouchering in airports.

Dynamic vouchering

In partnering with iCoupon, AIDA will be using iCoupon’s dynamic vouchering capability to extract and digitally distribute vouchers directly to passengers’ mobile phones with cruise guests benefitting from a streamlined service should they be delayed during any part of their travel to or from the ship.

Richard Bye, CEO of iCoupon, said: ‘The partnership with AIDA Cruises is another significant step for iCoupon, and a great use of our dynamic vouchering capability, AIDA’s use case is an example of how iCoupon can support multiple requirements. This enables us to venture into the cruise market for the first time.

Guest experience

‘Today’s traveller demands a quick and easy process in the event of delays, and we look forward to working alongside our new partners to deliver on this, and in doing so improving passenger satisfaction.’

Marco Meuris, head of operations control center at AIDA Cruises, said: ‘We chose the iCoupon solution because it is completely digital and has a very user-friendly portal. It is easy to implement and does not require any system integration on the customer side.’
