The nine-night Bermuda and eastern Caribbean cruise that departed Bayonne's Cape Liberty on Thursday is traveling west of the storm, heading south, and is now scheduled for a two-day call at Grand Turk instead of one day. Visits to La Romana and Puerto Plata are unchanged.
Hurricane conditions beginning later today
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said strong winds, dangerous storm surge and life-threatening flooding were expected to start impacting Bermuda later today, with the center of Ernesto to pass over or near the territory on Saturday.
Friday morning Hurricane Ernesto's maximum sustained winds were near 100 mph/155 km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening was forecast.
