Malaysia a fast growing source market for Royal Caribbean in SE Asia

Royal Caribbean International’s five-year deployment in Southeast Asia, will see an increase in the number of sailings visiting Malaysia from November 2019 through 2024.

Quantum of the Seas, fresh from her multimillion-dollar refurbishment for her six-month homeporting season in Singapore will be making a record-breaking 55 calls to Malaysia during its upcoming 2020-2021 season, starting October next year.

Together with the ship’s current 2019-2020 season, Royal Caribbean will bring a total of 430,000 tourists to Malaysia in the next two years. An estimated 189,000 of these tourists will visit Port Klang over 43 ship calls.

Malaysia is one of the fastest growing source markets in the region for Royal Caribbean.

Royal Caribbean’s md, Asia Pacific, Angie Stephen, said that the announcement on the five-year deployment underscores Royal Caribbean’s confidence in the flourishing cruise industry of Malaysia and the region, which have shown tremendous growth potential in recent years.

Growing local market

‘We are committed to growing the local cruise market, and we aim to continue bringing in bigger and better ships to Malaysia and region.’

She said guests can enjoy a variety of unique experiences when they visit Malaysia’s ports. ‘Besides gastronomic indulgences, they will be able to enjoy the wide array of cultural and shopping options both in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.’

Quantum itineraries

Quantum of the Seas’ itineraries will include 4-night cruises to Penang and Phuket, 5-night cruises to Phuket, Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang) and Penang , a 7-night cruise to Phuket (with an overnight), Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang) and Penang and a 7-night cruise to Bangkok (Laem Chabang) (with an overnight) and Ho Chi Minh City.
