'The unique location of the port convinced us to christen our newest feel-good ship in Lübeck-Travemünde,' states Wybcke Meier, ceo of TUI Cruises.

'The cruise industry is a booming sector of economy with a high potential for Schleswig-Holstein,' said Reinhard Meyer, minister of economy, labour, transport and technology. 'It strengthens the [local] maritime flair and is a highly attractive factor for the further development of tourism.’

He added: 'I am extremely happy that after this year's launching ceremony of Mein Schiff 4 in Kiel another port in our region has been chosen for the christening ceremony of Mein Schiff 5.'

Further details regarding the programme will be announced.
