Mitsui Ocean Fuji embarked Sunday on its maiden voyage for Mitsui Ocean Cruises, sailing from Yokohama. A festive send-off included a band on the pier.

'Incredible milestone'

President Tsunemichi Mukai called the second ship's addition an 'incredible milestone,' adding: 'We are thrilled to greet our very first guests and look forward to a prosperous future for our beautiful new ship celebrating our deep culture, wonders of the ocean, praise of delicious cuisine and the unique beauty of our treasured country.'

He also congratulated the crew and shoreside team for working together to ready the ship for its debut. The former Seabourn Odyssey underwent a refurbishment at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries that tweaked and rebranded onboard spaces.

Mitsui Ocean Fuji's inaugural season features a special New Year’s sailing, spring and Golden Week cruises (April-May 2025) and a 66-day 'Grand Asia' cruise (May-July 2025).
