More passengers visiting Burgas can visit St Anastasia island this summer

 Located in Burgas Bay in the Black Sea, the volcanic rock island is the only Bulgarian island to house a church, which is part of the monastery, that once existed there.

New for this year, three boats offering trips to the island, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bulgaria, will pick up passengers from the Maritime Station Burgas, where visiting cruise ships are accommodated.

Last year the island was visited by over 45,000 tourists.

Due to an agreement reached between the city and the port this service will enable twice the number of visitors to get to St. Anastasia to learn about its history at the museum, to visit the restored 14^th century church and to sample local seafood at the waterside restaurants.

The first trips for organized tours start in the second half of April. Regular services to the island, via the Maritime Station, will begin in May.

Burgas’ new cruise terminal welcomed 27 ships and 43,000 passengers last year.
