The 3,000-passenger MSC Poesia, currently on a 119-day world voyage from Genoa, is the third MSC Cruises ship to visit Australia.

Sister ship MSC Magnifica passed through Australia in 2019 and 2020 and MSC Orchestra visited in 2015.

MSC Poesia arrived in Sydney on Sunday after a maiden call at Auckland and will visit Brisbane on Wednesday and Cairns on March 3.

Exchange of crests

On Monday a welcome lunch for industry partners and media was held in Sydney when Capt. Philip Holliday, CEO and director of the Port Authority of New South Wales, exchanged crests with Poesia Hotel Director Giuseppe Pane.

MSC Magnifica, which departed Genoa at the same time as Poesia on January 5 for a simultaneous world cruise, arrives in Sydney on March 17.

She will return to Australia in 2025.

Lynne Clarke, chairman of MSC Cruises Australasia, is showcasing the two ships with functions for around 200 in all New Zealand and Australian ports.
