Norwegian Sun was cleared to return to Seattle at reduced speed for repairs
Norwegian Sun skipped several Alaska ports after the ship made contact with a growler — a small iceberg — while transiting to Hubbard Glacier on Saturday.

The ship missed Skagway on Sunday and continued to Juneau, arriving Sunday evening and staying until Monday for further assessment. It was decided to return to Seattle for repairs, bypassing Ketchikan and Victoria, BC.

Cleared to sail back to Seattle at reduced speed

Norwegian Cruise Line said Norwegian Sun had been cleared by the US Coast Guard and other local maritime authorities to return to Seattle at reduced speed. Passengers will disembark in Seattle as originally planned.

June 30 departure canceled

Norwegian Sun's June 30 cruise was also canceled.

Juneau news station KTOO posted a passenger's short video of the ice rising to the surface and breaking into smaller chunks after the impact.
