Norwegian dangles tax-free offer, deals on Cuba, Hawaii

Norwegian Cruise Line's current 'Free at Sea' promotion, for bookings through May 1, provides cruisers up to five free on-board amenities. Plus, as US tax day looms, the line's 'Tax-Free Spree' removes government taxes, fees and port expenses on select itineraries for the first and second passenger in a stateroom.

As a further incentive, deposits are reduced 50% for booking select categories (mini-suites and below) now through April 18. This applies to new bookings made more than 90 days from sail date.

With the 'Free at Sea' promotion, passengers who book a cruise of three days or longer in an ocean-view, balcony or ministuie category can choose two free perks from among five offers. Those are free, unlimited open bar, free specialty dining, $50 toward shore excursions in each port per stateroom, 250 minutes of free Wi-Fi or Norwegian’s Friends & Family Sail Free offer that allows third and fourth guests to sail at no charge on many 2017 and 2018 dates.

Passengers booking inside or studio staterooms for solo travelers can choose one free offer.

Those who book a suite or The Haven by Norwegian get all five free amenities, providing up to $2,800 in added value.

Plus, there's an exclusive 'Free at Sea' offer for the recently renovated Pride of America, which sails year-round in Hawaii. Travelers who book a new seven-day cruise now through May 1 in any stateroom category (apart from IX, OX and BX) can choose one of the five perks and get a free one-night pre-cruise hotel stay with an option to select reduced airfare starting at $399 from select gateways.

Travelers who book a suite aboard Pride of America get all five offers.

There's a special promotion for Norwegian Sky, too, on select dates for Cuba cruises. The drinks-included ship's 'Havana Nights' offer provides $50 in on-board credit for bookings now through May 1 on select sailing dates in 2017. Plus, 'Havana Nights' bookings made by April 18 have 50% reduced deposits.
