Norwegian Escape's return delayed to April 2

Repairs to Norwegian Escape, which grounded at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, March 14, are taking longer than expected.

As a result, the March 26 cruise from Port Canaveral is canceled.

'We’re optimistic the issue will be resolved shortly, and we will resume normal operations on April 2,' a spokesperson for Norwegian Cruise Line said.

Norwegian Escape has been at Port Canaveral since March 20 after deadheading there from Puerto Plata, where passengers were disembarked and flown home. 

The company has not responded to questions about the nature of the repairs but on March 15 described the damage as 'minor.'
