Oct. 13 update: AIDAdiva back in Warnemünde before heading to Caribbean, Lindblad confirms Antarctica

AIDAdiva is back

AIDAdiva arrived at Warnemünde today in preparation for welcoming its first passengers, on Oct. 16, since the pandemic shutdown.

The arrival was meaningful for the bridge team. Staff Capt. Frank Jacobi, a resident of nearby Rostock, said: 'For me, the entrance into the port of Warnemünde is one of the most beautiful, because the scenery is truly unique: the view from the sea canal, from the Teapot (a landmark building with an unusual shape) to the Neptun Hotel is simply indescribable. The enthusiasm of the cruise fans ashore is just as unique.'

For his colleague, Safety Officer Andre Schalowski, 'As a nautical engineer who was born in Rostock and lives in Warnemünde, there is no better port in the world. Passing the pier heads, the lighthouse on the starboard side and the Warnemünde seagulls is home for me.'

AIDAdiva's first two cruises — both five days — will visit Gdansk, Visby and Copenhagen. On Oct. 26, the ship will depart Warnemünde for the Caribbean, where it will operate a winter season of cruises to destinations including Tortola, Samaná (Dominican Republic), St. Maarten and St. Kitts.

Lindblad confirms three-ship Antarctica season

Lindblad Expeditions confirmed its return to Antarctica this season with three ships, including the brand-new sisters National Geographic Resolution and National Geographic Endurance, plus National Geographic Explorer.

Voyages, apart from one, will operate from Ushuaia, Argentina.

Itineraries include the 14-day 'Journey to Antarctica: The White Continent,' the 24-day 'Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falklands,' the 19-day 'South Georgia & the Falklands,' the 20-day 'Patagonia & Antarctica: Legendary Ice and Epic Fjords' (this voyage embarks in Punta Arenas, Chile), and the 33-day 'Epic Antarctica: South Sandwich Islands, South Georgia & The Peninsula.'

This season the National Geographic Global Explorers program for kids and teens, led by a National Geographic-trained education specialist, expands to Antarctica.
