Stuart, president and ceo of Norwegian Cruise Line, is in Sydney to be keynote speaker at CLIA Australasia Cruise360 on Friday.

Odell recounted how he was working for NCL in London as UK sales director in 1988 when he appointed Stuart, who was working for Marriott, as UK sales manager.

He said when he moved to Celebrity Cruises in 1994, Stuart took over his job at NCL.

Stuart called it a momentous year for Norwegian Cruise Line with the launch of Norwegian Bliss and new shipbuild announcements.

Stronger presence Down Under

‘I am particularly excited that we have been able to further strengthen our presence in the Australia and New Zealand region with the soon-to-be-refurbished Norwegian Jewel now confirmed for a third season (Down Under) in 2019/2020,’ he said.

He said building even further on Norwegian’s presence in the region, the 2,400-passenger Norwegian Jade will offer a season of sailings throughout Southeast Asia departing Singapore and Hong Kong in 2019/2020.

‘The deployment of Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Jade to the region is aimed to take full advantage of the flourishing source market in Australia,’ Stuart said.
