Pacific Eden, Holland America Line’s former Statendam, joined the fleet at the end of 2015 and underwent a 12-day, multimillion dollar refurbishment at the Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore at the end of July/beginning of August last year.

She will make her final voyage on March 16, 2019, before transferring to Cruise & Maritime Voyages the following month.

Myrmell said Golden Princess’ initial P&O Australia itineraries will be available at the end of this year.‘This development is proof positive that we are on the course of ensuring P&O Cruises Australia has the right ships for a contemporary brand operating in a competitive market,’ he said.

Meantime, P&O Cruises Australia’s 70,310gt Pacific Jewel has entered dry dock at Garden Island in Sydney for a 10-day makeover before she operates the company’s biggest season in New Zealand, making 22 round-trips from Auckland between later this month and August.

'While we are always sad to farewell ships, this is an exciting step forward,' Sture Myrmell said
