Panomax secures more 360-degree onboard camera orders
After a successful debut on Hapag Lloyd Cruises’ Europa, Panomax will install a second 360-degree camera providing high-resolution images, for Europa 2.
It has also won a contract to supply a camera on Viking Cruises’ newbuild Viking Sky.
The images are loaded onto a central server and made available online at www.panomax.com. Similar to a live, interactive version of Google Street View, it provides a map, hot spots, location search, time lapse videos and other functions. Users can zoom in on any picture and order poster prints via an integrated print shop.
Klaus Mairinger, founder of Panomax, originally targeted shore-based tourist destinations particularly operators of mountain cable cars and ski resorts. More than 250 cameras are in service, including in demanding climes like the Alps and on the German North Sea island of Langeoog where the system has proven resistant to a saltwater environment.
He started targetting the cruise sector a couple of years ago and got the Europa breakthrough in 2015. Panomax is exhibiting at Seatrade Europe at Booth number NP1.
