PortMiami tunnel will be inaugurated today

PortMiami's $1bn tunnel is scheduled to be inaugurated today with a ceremony attended by Gov. Rick Scott, the Miami Herald reports.

According to the Herald, the tunnel will not open to regular traffic for several days as safety tests are completed.

Trucks hauling cargo and motor coaches of cruise ship passengers are expected to be the main users of the tunnel, though it is open to cars. There is no charge.
