After a two-year hiatus, Sydney Harbour is set to welcome the first international cruise ship later this month
P&O Cruises Australia’s flagship, Pacific Explorer, will sail into Sydney Harbour on April 18 after an absence of more than two years.

As reported earlier, the 77,441gt ship has been standing off the coast of Cyprus with sisters Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure during the suspension of operations.

Welcoming flotilla

The Easter Monday holiday arrival is expected to attract a flotilla of pleasure boats to escort Pacific Explorer as she makes her way up the harbour to the Overseas Passenger Terminal opposite the Sydney Opera House.

‘We will use the coming weeks to prepare Pacific Explorer to be cruise ready to lead the resurgence of cruising,’ President of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia Marguerite Fitzgerald said.

‘We can’t wait for our first guest cruise, a four-night round-trip from Sydney to Brisbane departing on May 31 based on protocols developed in conjunction with government authorities,’ Fitzgerald said.
