Princess Cruises begins first homeporting from Port Canaveral

After a four-day Thanksgiving cruise, Caribbean Princess will settle into varied six- and eight-day eastern and western itineraries.

Caribbean Princess arrived at Port Canaveral Wednesday to embark on Princess Cruises' first homeporting season from there.

Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Kevin Markey, Caribbean Princess Capt. Vincenzo Lubrano and Princess' Vicki Johnson, SVP communications, participated in a maritime plaque exchange in the ship’s Piazza.

Caribbean Princess is setting off on a four-day Thanksgiving cruise to the Turks and Caicos.

In the spirit of giving, Princess donated nonperishable food items to the Sharing Center of Central Brevard. Nearly two tons of food will support local families in need.

'Fantastic facilities,' easily accessible

'Port Canaveral offers fantastic facilities and is easily accessible for our guests, whether they choose to drive, fly or take advantage of our exclusive Rail & Sail program with Brightline,' Princess President John Padgett said.

This inaugural winter season from Port Canaveral spans 19 additional cruises to the eastern and western Caribbean.

Six- and eight-day itineraries

To the eastern Caribbean, six-day itineraries include Nassau, Grand Turk and either Amber Cove or San Juan, while eight-day itineraries include St. Thomas, St. Maarten, San Juan and Grand Turk.

Eight-day western Caribbean cruises call Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize City and Roatán's Mahogany Bay.

Itineraries can be combined for a 14-day vacation.

Port Canaveral CEO John Murray welcomed Caribbean Princess, calling it 'the perfect addition to this market' and said Princess is a line that's been requested by travelers 'for a long time.'

Sky Princess in 2025/26

The newer, larger Royal-class Sky Princess is scheduled to take over the Port Canaveral program for next winter's 2025/26 season. Cruises are on sale now.
