Princess Cruises’ biggest ever Christmas season in Australasia

The 2019-2020 season in Australia and New Zealand is set to break all records for Princess Cruises, with more than 51,000 passengers cruising this December — almost 30% more than at the same time last year.

The company’s ships sailing around Australia and New Zealand in December are the 3,080-passenger Ruby Princess on her maiden visit, the 3,560-passenger Majestic Princess returning for the second time and Golden Princess and Sea Princess. Collectively, they will make 14 voyages on itineraries from Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

120 litres of eggnog

The ships will be lavishly decorated for Christmas and on each voyage passengers are expected to consume 450 kilograms of ham, 1,000 kilograms of turkey, 144 gingerbread houses, 8,000 puddings, 3,000 bottles of Champagne and more than 120 litres of eggnog.

There will be gingerbread house decorating contests and Christmas card making for junior sailors and turkey carving demonstrations for adults.

Santa Claus

Children’s choirs will sing carols and Santa Claus will visit each ship on Christmas Day.

‘Cruising is a fantastic way to bring the family together for the holidays,’ Princess Cruises sales and marketing director Nick Ferguson said.

Best of all, Ferguson said, there is no grocery shopping, cooking and washing up.
