Princess Cruises lays out 2023/24 South America and Antarctica plans

Sapphire Princess will return to South America and offer scenic cruising in Antarctica in the 2023/24 season.

Ten departures of five itineraries are offered. These range from 14 to 34 days.

Cape Horn & Strait of Magellan

The two-week 'Cape Horn & Strait of Magellan' itinerary features an overnight in Buenos Aires and scenic cruising of Patagonia's Amalia Glacier and Cape Horn. Ports include Montevideo, Puerto Madryn, Stanley in the Falkland Islands, Ushuaia, Punta Arenas and Puerto Montt. Buenos Aires and San Antonio (for Santiago) are the turnaround ports. Departures are Feb. 5, Feb, 19 and March 4, 2024.

Antarctica & Cape Horn

This 16-day program features four days of cruising the Antarctic region with views including Elephant Island, the Antarctic Sound and Gerlache Strait. Cruises operate between Santiago and Buenos Aires and include scenic cruising of Cape Horn plus calls at Ushuaia, the Falkland Islands and Montevideo. Departures are Dec. 19, 2023, and Jan. 4 and Jan. 20, 2024.

Andes & South America

This 18-day adventure bookends the season and provides an overnight in Callao (for Lima) with an optional overland land tour to Machu Picchu.

The Dec. 1 cruise originates in Los Angeles and sails to Puntarenas (Costa Rica), Manta (Ecuador), Peru's General San Martín (for Pisco) and Chile's Coquimbo (for La Serena) and ends at Santiago. Wrapping the season, on March 18, 2024, Sapphire Princess departs Santiago for La Serena, Pisco, Callao (overnight), Manta, Costa Rica, Mexico's Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, and ending in Los Angeles.

Two 'Grand Adventures'

'Antarctica, Andes & Cape Horn Grand Adventure,' 34 days, begins with the Dec. 1 'Andes & South America' itinerary from Los Angeles and continues with Antarctic Peninsula scenic cruising then calls at the Falkland Islands and Montevideo before arriving at Buenos Aires.

'Andes & Cape Horn Grand Adventure,' 32 days, departs Bueno Aires (overnight) March 4 to Montevideo, Puerto Madryn, the Falkland Islands, Cape Horn scenic cruising, Ushuaia, Punta Arenas, Amalia Glacier scenic cruising, Puerto Montt, Santiago, La Serena, Pisco, Callao (overnight), Manta, Costa Rica, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Los Angeles.

Two cruise-tours

Pre-/post-cruise tour options include Machu Picchu or Iguazú Falls with a visit to Rio de Janeiro.
