In addition, a giant screen will be set up in the theatre, specially decked out to look like a football stadium, whenever Spain is playing.

The company has also designed a specially-themed entertainment program. Richard J. Vogel, the cruise line's president and ceo says, 'we are fully aware of how deeply rooted football is in Spanish traditions; that's why we want our guests to enjoy their holidays while experiencing and sharing the emotions of the event with their family and friends.'

Football-themed program of activities

Under the motto 'Somos Fútbol’ (‘We are Football'), the company has prepared a program of activities which it hopes will help create a football-based environment on board.

Starting with Sovereign, guests can demonstrate their footballing skills by taking part in a 'mini world cup'. Children will be able to join in helping find the lost football. Guided by instructors, in this activity they will form teams and discover the ship.

Smaller children will have a varied entertainment agenda that includes face painting with the colours of national teams, workshops to design and customize teams' kits, as well as typical Russian - hosts of the 2018 World Cup - costumes and a football quiz.

The are also themed party nights at the pool planned.

During the World Cup which runs from June 14 to July 15, Sovereign is sailing in the Med, Horizon on round trip ex-Venice cruises and Greek islands and Monarch is cruising in the Caribbean.
