'After an extensive selection process involving the world’s leading ship management companies, we’re incredibly pleased that V.Ships Leisure will partner with us as we launch our new technologically-advanced polar vessel,' Quark President Andrew White said.

'Unrivaled base for polar adventure'

Ultramarine will be an 'unrivaled base for polar adventure,' he added, with its two twin-engine helicopters, 20 quick-launching Zodiacs and robust portfolio of off-ship adventure options.

White cited V.Ships Leisure's more than 25 years of cruise industry experience and said the two companies share many of the same values.

'Our guests can take confidence and comfort knowing their vessel is managed by a reputable, competent partner who puts passenger safety first, just as we do,' he continued, 'And, like us, V.Ships Leisure places a great priority on the protection of the environment, an issue very close to our hearts. Similarly, V.Ships Leisure is focused on improving quality of health on board and throughout its operations, yet another commitment aligned with Quark Expeditions.'

'We believe Quark Expeditions and V.Ships Leisure are natural partners given our shared vision,' said Per Bjornsen, managing director of V.Ships Leisure. 'This once again underscores V.Ships Leisure’s position as the partner of choice for companies launching new vessels and who insist on safe, resilient operations for their guests.'

2021 Arctic season debut

The 199-passenger Ultramarine, under construction at Brodosplit in Croatia, is scheduled to debut for the 2021 Arctic season. It had originally been targeted to first sail for the 2020/21 Antarctica season.
