July 5, saw three cruiseships visiting Kirkwall in the Orkney islands, generating  a record 7,000 cruise passengers ashore in one day.

MSC Magnifica and Nautica berthed at Hatson Pier, almost a quarter of a mile long and Scotland’s longest commercial deep-water berth, extended in 2013 whilst Ruby Princess was at anchor in Kirkwall Bay.

Shoreside 50 individual guided tours were undertaken throughout the day.

MSC Magnifica and Ruby Princess are both set to return to Kirkwall on August 10.
