Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration issued a certificate of nationality to Zhao Shang Yi Dun, formerly known as Viking Sun, marking the first Chinese-flag luxury cruise ship.

The ship is registered in the port of Qianhai, Shenzhen.

For its initial operations, Zhao Shang Yi Dun will be deployed on domestic city and island itineraries.

Expanded itineraries on the horizon

The itineraries will be further expanded to Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and other international destinations, as well as cruises-to-nowhere when the global cruising market reopens.

Zhao Shang Yi Dun is the first ship in a joint venture between China Merchants Shekou and Viking Cruises.

It arrived to Shenzhen last month.
