Spectrum of the Seas, currently based in Singapore, will redeploy to Shanghai in April 2024
Royal Caribbean International's return to China is set for April 2024 with Spectrum of the Seas from Shanghai.

In addition, Anthem of the Seas will sail in Asia for the first time, from Singapore, starting in late 2024.

Spectrum of the Seas is currently Singapore-based.

From Shanghai, Spectrum will operate four- and five-night cruises to such destinations as Fukuoka, Okinawa, Nagasaki, Osaka and Tokyo, Japan. The ship will also offer eight sailings from Hong Kong, starting in December 2024, to places such as Ishigaki and Miyazaki, Japan; Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan; and Nha Trang, Vietnam.

'Moment we've been waiting for'

'This is the moment we – along with Chinese holidaymakers – have been waiting for,' said Bert Hernandez, SVP international, Royal Caribbean.

'Our return to China is an exciting milestone that could only be marked with Spectrum of the Seas, which became a household name with Chinese families and travelers alike when it debuted in Shanghai as the latest and greatest Royal Caribbean ship in 2019,' he added.

RCI President/CEO Michael Bayley had recently signaled the China return adding that he expects the market to eventually get back to pre-pandemic demand levels.
