Royal Caribbean cancels Vision of the Seas cruises from Bermuda

Royal Caribbean International canceled Vision of the Seas' summer cruises from Bermuda as the likelihood of cruising from the US becomes 'greater each day.'

With that, Royal Caribbean said, 'US travelers are increasingly showing a preference for more direct access to ports of departure.'

The line is notifying impacted passengers and travel partners.

Vision had been scheduled to operate seven-night cruises from Bermuda's Royal Naval Dockyard June 26 through August, with a call at Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

Bermuda in the cards

'We still look forward to bringing our guests to Bermuda with several ships across the Royal Caribbean fleet as we have for many years,' Royal Caribbean said. 'As we get back to cruising, our close partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bermuda Tourism Authority is still focused on working toward the common goal of getting the community back on its feet by helping revive local tourism.'

Bahamas still on

Asked if the company is reconsidering its cruises planned to embark from Nassau in the Bahamas, a Royal Caribbean spokesperson told Seatrade Cruise News: 'We don’t anticipate any changes to the remainder of our open deployment.'

Adventure of ths Seas is to begin weekly service from Nassau June 12, which would be the line's first ship to restart in the Americas.
